The Day the Lights Went Out in Franklin County
On August 21st of 2017… in the very middle part of the day… the sun will be completely obscured from our view by the moon for the first time in centuries (according to what I have read). If you're in the area… feel free to join together with some other cachers to enjoy the show of a lifetime!
The first 20 attendees to arrive get a free pair of eclipse-viewing glasses!
I will be on location to set up at around 8:00 a.m.
At 11:30 a.m. we will begin gathering to don our eclipse glasses and prepare for the show. A cooler with some iced beverages will be provided… or bring your own if you'd like. I will also have some food to snack on.
The TOTAL eclipse will last 2 minutes, 37.7 seconds at this location… which is just 2.3 seconds less than dead center of the path of the eclipse here in Missouri… or 2.5 seconds less than the maximum viewing spot near Carbondale, Illinois. The event will be "officially" over once the total eclipse is completed (1:18:21 p.m.)… but folks are welcome to hang around until 4:00 p.m. if they would like.
