"Plodfoot, drop everything!" the banker bellowed. "The bushranger's stolen my prize bull!"
"The bushranger?"
"Yes, I saw him with my own eyes!"
Sheriff Plodfoot wondered what other possible ways there were of seeing him, but didn't pursue it.
"He left this parchment addressed to you."
"Show me."
The banker grimmaced. "Where's this Hill of Bulls he speaks of?"
"I know the place; the enlisted men often gather there to coordinate their nightly frolics, if you catch my meaning."
The banker grimaced again. "You must go there at once; my bull is a shy beast and will be fretting with all those frolicking men about, I'm sure. Make sure to take a lantern as he'll likely be hiding somewhere dark."
"I can't say I've ever encountered a shy bull, but no matter. I'll put Constable Cacher on the case; he's good with numbers and maps so together we'll find your bull, I'm sure."
"You'd better, Plodfoot, or there'll be hell to pay."
