Canada Day in 2017 celebrates the 150th anniversary of the signing of the British North America Act in 1867, which united the three separate colonies of Canada, Nova Scotia, and New Brunswick into the Dominion of Canada, part of the British Empire. Canada become mostly independent from the UK in 1931, but only became fully independent in 1982.
Because Canada Day is in the summer, people there usually celebrate outdoors. They have picnics and barbecues, and there are a lot of activities for families, too. At night there are fireworks shows.
Unfortunately we can't do the fireworks in Finland, but it's easy to do the rest. Let's have a picnic at Oittaa Recreation Area, next to Angry Birds Park and the beach. The logbook will be available from 10:30 to 12:00, but you can stay as long as you like. Please bring your own picnic blanket and food. (And maybe even your swimsuit!)

Koska Kanada-päivä on kesällä, ihmiset juhlistavat sitä yleensä ulkosalla jolloin on eväsretkiä, grillausta ja perheystävällisiä tapahtumia. Pimeän tullen taivaalle lennähtävät näyttävät ilotulitukset.
Valitettavasti täällä Suomessa emme tällä kertaa voi järjestää ilotulitusta, mutta muilta osin se on helppoa. Pidetään yhdessä eväsretki Oittaan ulkoilualueella Angry birds puiston ja rannan tuntumassa. Lokikirja on avoinna klo 10:30 - 12:00, mutta päivää voit jatkaa senkin jälkeen. Ota mukaasi retkieväät ja viltti. (Ja ehkä jopa uimapuku!)
