Le Bois des Forts est situé en grande partie sur le territoire de la commune de Coudekerque-Village, sa gestion est effectuée par Dunkerque Grand Littoral qui est la Communauté Urbaine de Dunkerque.
Le bois est né dans les années 1970, 350 hectares environ ont été plantés principalement en Peupliers, Aulnes, Saules et Frênes. C'est une ancienne terre marécageuse asséchée pour permettre la culture maraîchère.

The Bois des Forts is located for the most part on the territory of the municipality of Coudekerque-Village, its management is carried out by Dunkerque Grand Littoral which is the Urban Community of Dunkerque.
The woods were created in the 1970s, about 350 hectares were planted mainly in Poplars, Alders, Willows, and Ashes. It is an old swampy land that was drained to allow market gardening.
