REALLY SideTracked - Colnbrook Traditional Geocache

This cache has been archived.

Dumpster41: Sadly I have decided to archive this cache. To move it would put it too far away / out of site of the old station buildings / track, so I would need to make it a multi, which would mean archiving anyway and republishing, however as this station already has a sidetracked cache (which I was not previously aware of) I can not see a reason to publish another one.
Thanks to those who found, and sorry to those who were not able to.
Container removed.

About SideTracked Caches

This cache belongs to the SideTracked series. It is not designed to take you to a magical place with a breath taking view. It's a distraction for the weary traveller, but anyone else can go and find it too. More Information can be found at the SideTracked Website

About Colnbrook Station

Colnbrook railway station was a station on the now closed railway line between West Drayton and Staines West.

It opened in 1884 to serve the village of Colnbrook, perhaps anticipating that one day it would grow into a larger settlement.

It is located on the original route of the Great West Road, (Bath Road)

Although passenger traffic was fairly minimal, the station was not closed to passengers until 1965 (following the Beeching Report).

Goods services were withdrawn the following year, but the line up to here still remains in use for aggregates traffic and for deliveries to a fuel terminal serving Heathrow Airport.

The platforms survived for quite a while after closure, but have now been demolished.

The station house still stands, but the track beyond the former station level crossing towards Poyle has been lifted.
