A magical place. Nature. Quietness.
There are magical places due to quietness, serenity and beautiful nature that fulfill us, as for the pleasure they transmit to the visitors. Mourisca's Tidal Mill is one of those places. Good to visit at lunch break and to recover energies for the remaining working journey. If you ever had never visited this place you will be pleasantly surprised at arrival. The best advice that we can share with you is to come and find our cache.
MOURISCA'S TIDAL MILL ( MOINHO DE MARÉ DA MOURISCA )
Mourisca's Tidal Mill is located in the Herdade da Mourisca (Natural Reserve of the Sado Estuary) and is one of the four known tidal mills in the Sado estuary. It is a structure with about 2280 m2, able to work with eight mills altogether that worked until a few decades ago. Originally has been built a grinding room, a storage room and a support house for the miller. In ruins after years of negligence, the mill was acquired by ICNF ( former ICNB), which started in 1995 its reconstruction and rehabilitation. With the recovery of this space, tourism was promoted and some activities are being advertised all around, namely:
- lectures about the natural history of the region and its marine mammals (dolphins), about ecology, behavior and migrations of cetaceans;
- birdwatching initiation´s workshops, identification of waders, birdwatching fair;
- estuarine biodiversity.

THE CACHE
Hopping that you have already decided to visit this place, let's try to take advantage of it and challenge you to find and log a cache that we have prepared for you. To discover it, you will have to solve the following problems, just to exercise your brain. Caution: We advice you to take care of your shoes.
PROBLEM 1
The Palafitic dock of the Mill was degraded. The City Hall hired a team of four carpenters to repair it. Those men repaired the wood slat rigorously at the same rate (they repair the same area at the same time). On the first day of work, one of the carpenters worked alone from 8:00 a.m. to 9:35 a.m. At that time the other three appeared and they worked altogether. The four carpenters finished the whole arrangement of a span at 10:57 a.m. On the next day, the first carpenter began to work alone at 8:00 a.m., in the next span, which has strictly the same size as the previous one. The other three carpenters appeared up earlier and the span arrangement ended at 10:09 a.m.
Knowing that all the four carpenters work the same area at the same time, for how long (minutes) (X), did the first carpenter worked alone on the second day?
PROBLEM 2
Being challenger´s lovers , we invented a code for the calendar months.
We present below a list of some and its associated codes ( “ Unfortunetly” we love our language and we decided not to translate them, forcing you to learn a little bit about Portuguese).

Consider (Y) equal to the sum of the numbers formed by the last three digits of junho (June) code and by the first two digits of the code of novembro (November), subtracted from the number formed by the first two digits of the code of junho (June).
PROBLEM 3
We live 52 km far from each other, in opposite places relatively to the Mourisca's Tidal Mill , and we decided to meet there to finish the preparation of this cache. One of us left home at 10:15 a.m. and drove his car at 55 km / h. The other left home at 10:30 a.m., traveling in the opposite direction and drove his car at 70 km / h. Curiously, we reached the Mill at the same time.
At arrival what time (W) marked the long watch hand (minutes hand)? (Solution rounded to the nearest minute).
PROBLEM 4
When we decided to leave the bird-watching space, we observed that the tanks where the birds were nesting have the shape represented in the figure below, composed of four squares.
What is the overall perimeter (Z) (rounded to the units) of the tanks next to the observation space, knowing that they have a total area of 4800 m2?

MOINHO DE MARÉ DA MOURISCA
O moinho de Maré da Mourisca encontra-se localizado na Herdade da Mourisca (Reserva Natural do Estuário do Sado) e é um dos quatro moinhos de maré conhecidos no Estuário do Sado. Trata-se de uma estrutura com cerca de 2280 m2, preparada para o funcionamento simultâneo de oito mós, que funcionaram até há algumas décadas. Era originalmente constituído por uma sala de moagem, uma sala de armazenamento e uma casa de apoio ao moleiro. Em ruínas após anos de abandono, o moinho foi adquirido pelo ex-ICNB, atual ICNF, que iniciou em 1995 a sua reconstrução e recuperação.
Com a recuperação deste espaço, promove-se o turismo e divulgam-se atividades da região, designadamente:
- fazem-se palestras sobre a história natural da região e os seus mamíferos marinhos (golfinhos), sobre ecologia, comportamento e migrações de cetáceos;
- workshops de iniciação ao birdwatching, identificação de limícolas, Observantura (birdwatching fair);
- biodiversidade estuarina.

A CACHE
Agora que se decidiram a visitar o local, tratemos de aproveitar e desafia-los a encontrar e logar a cache que vos preparámos.
Para que a descubram, terão de resolver os problemas a seguir apresentados. São simples e pretendem apenas fazer aquecer as células cinzentas para a tarefa de encontrar a cache no local do destino.
Atenção: apesar de ser fácil o acesso, não se aconselha o uso de sapatinhos engraxados, em dias de chuva, :-).
PROBLEMA 1
O cais palafítico do Moinho encontrava-se degradado. A Câmara contratou uma equipa de quatro carpinteiros para efetuarem o arranjo, os quais reparam o ripado de madeira rigorosamente ao mesmo ritmo (reparam a mesma área, no mesmo tempo). No primeiro dia de trabalho, um dos carpinteiros esteve a trabalhar sozinho das 8:00 às 9:35, hora a que apareceram os outros três e o ajudaram nas tarefas. Os quatro carpinteiros terminaram o arranjo integral de um vão às 10:57.
No dia seguinte, o primeiro carpinteiro começou novamente a trabalhar sozinho às 8:00, no vão seguinte, que tem dimensões rigorosamente iguais ao anterior. Os outros três carpinteiros apareceram mais cedo e o arranjo do vão terminou às 10:09.
Sabendo que quatro carpinteiros trabalham a mesma área no mesmo tempo, durante quanto tempo (minutos) (X), o primeiro carpinteiro trabalhou sozinho, no segundo dia?
PROBLEMA 2
Como gostamos de desafios, inventámos um código para os meses do calendário e apresentamos abaixo a lista de meses e o respetivo código que a ele associámos:

(Y) É igual à soma dos números formados pelos três últimos algarismos do código do mês de junho e pelos dois primeiros do código do mês de novembro, subtraída do número formado pelos dois primeiros algarismos do código mês de junho.
PROBLEMA 3
Moramos à distância de 52 km um do outro, em sítios opostos em relação ao Moinho de Maré das Mouriscas, e decidimos encontrar-nos lá para terminar a preparação e montagem da Cache 2 Golfinhos e passarada. Um de nós partiu de casa às 10:15 da manhã e conduziu a sua viatura a 55 km/h. O outro partiu às 10:30 da manhã e, viajando em sentido oposto, conduziu a sua viatura a 70 km/h. Curiosamente chegámos ao mesmo tempo ao Moinho.
Que minutos (W) marcavam o ponteiro dos relógios? (resposta arredondada ao minuto mais próximo).
PROBLEMA 4
Quando íamos a abandonar o espaço de observação de aves, observámos que os tanques onde os pássaros nidificavam tinham a forma representada na figura abaixo, composta por quatro quadrados.
Qual o perímetro (Z) global (arredondado às unidades) dos tanques junto ao espaço de observação, sabendo que os mesmos têm uma área de 4800 m2?
