Geocache Description:

Friends, Romans, Geocachers, lend me your ears.  It is time for the annual Nelson Mandela Bay Geocaching Awards combined with the PEG Awards organised by Plainoldgraham.

Please log your attendence as we need to know what kind of numbers to cater for.

The 2017 Nelson Mandela Bay Geocaching Awards hosted by FireflyAfrica, incorporating the PEG Awards hosted by Plainoldgraham, are taking place at the Walmer Scout Hall on Saturday 10 June 2017 at 17:30.  The event should last about two hours and will include the announcement of the winners in the 17 categories, the PEG winners, a surprise or two, dinner and excellent company.  

The cost for the evening is R30 per person and will give you 2 Boeries and some snacks. There will be no bar so bring a coolerbox.   

The 2017 Nelson Mandela Bay Geocaching Awards is open to all Geocachers based in the Nelson Mandela Bay metro as well as a 150 km radius as to include cachers as far as the Jbay, St Francis, Gamtoos Valley and Kirkwood areas.  The awards cover an one year period from 1 January 2016 to 31 December 2016.

The categories are as follow: 

AWARDS CATEGORIES 

Caches:

1) Traditional Cache of the Year (Any traditional cache published between 1 Jan 2016 and 31 Dec 2016) 

2) Mystery Cache of the Year (Any mystery cache published between 1 Jan 2016 and 31 Dec 2016) 

3) Multi-Cache of the Year (Any multi-cache cache published between 1 Jan 2016 and 31 Dec 2016) 

4) Letterbox Cache of the Year (Any letterbox cache published between 1 Jan 2016 and 31 Dec 2016) 

5) Earth Cache of the Year (Any Earth Cache published between 1 Jan 2016 and 31 Dec 2016) 
 

6) Wherigo Cache of the Year (Any Wherigo cache published between 1 Jan 2016 and 31 Dec 2016) 

7) Series of the Year (Any series of three or more caches published between 1 Jan 2016 and 31 Dec 2016)
 

8) Event of the Year (Includes both normal events as well as CITO events that has taken place between 1 Jan 2016 and 31 Dec 2016) 

9) Extreme cache of the Year (Any cache published between 1 Jan 2016 and 31 Dec 2016 where the experience getting to the cache container is an “extreme” experience i.e. climbing, crawling, swimming)
 

10) Most Challenging Cache of the Year (Any cache published between 1 Jan 2016 and 31 Dec 2016 where the experience of finding the cache was a challenge)

11) All time favorite Cache (Any cache as long as it was still live at the end 2016)


Other
 

12) Best Log (The Funniest / Most Inspiring / Most Descriptive / Biggest Pack of Lies log – Found, DNF, Notes- all log types posted between 1 Jan 2016 and 31 Dec 2016) 

13) Best Log Photo (Must relate to the cache it's added to and had to be posted between 1 Jan 2014 and 1 Dec 2015.)

14) Young Cacher of the Year (Junior cacher who's added something to the game. Must have been 18 or younger at some point in 2016. So born after 1/1/1998) 
 

15) Newbie of the Year (must have begun caching after 1 January 2016) 

16) Achievement Award (either a Lifetime Achievement award, or for someone who's Overcome Adversity in the pursuit of Tupperware. Basically, an impressive, inspirational cacher.) 


17) Geocacher/s of the Year (could be the most dedicated cache owner, keenest cache maintainer, most inspiring or creative cache owner, most helpful event host, most committed -or should be- cacher who went the extra mile and more…
