Dne 24. února 1582 papež Řehoř XIII. vydal bulu Inter gravissimas, vyhlašující kalendářní reformu. (Letos je tomu právě 435 let.) Kalendář se na počest papeže Řehoře nazývá řehořským nebo gregoriánským.
