St. Johann, auf Baseldeutsch «Santihans» genannt, ist ein Stadtteil im Norden der Stadt Basel. Er grenzt im Norden an Frankreich, im Osten an den Rhein, im Süden und Westen an andere Stadtteile. Das St. Johanns-Quartier verdankt seinen Namen dem Johanniterorden der hier seit 1206 eine Niederlassung hatte.
Das Ziel dieses Caches ist es einen sicheren Ort für Trackables in Basel anzubieten, welcher einfach vom Bahnhof (Tram Nr. 1 bis Burgfelderplatz), dem Flughafen (Bus Nr. 50 bis Kannenfeldplatz) und der Autobahn (Nordtangente) aus zu erreichen ist.
Das Trackable Einmaleins.
Ein Trackable ist eine Art Geocaching-"Spielstein." Du wirst Trackables oft in Geocaches finden oder auf Events sehen. Jeder Trackable ist mit einem einmaligen Code ausgestattet, der es ermöglicht, seine Bewegungen auf Geocaching.com zu loggen und damit seine Reise um die Welt nachzuvollziehen. Einige dieser Objekte sind bereits Hunderttausende von Meilen durch Geocacher, die sie von Geocache zu Geocache bewegen, gereist!
Es gibt drei Hauptgruppen von Trackables: Travel-Bugs®, Geocoins und andere Trackables.
Ein Travel-Bug ist ein nachverfolgbare Marke an einem Gegenstand, der von Geocacherinnen und Geocachern ein "Tramper" genannt wird. Jeder Travel-Bug hat ein von seiner Besitzerin/seinem Besitzer definiertes Ziel. Dieses steht in der Regel im Zusammenhang mit Reisen und kann zum Beispiel "Besuche jedes Land in Europa" oder "Reise von Küste zu Küste" sein. Travel-Bug-Trackables bewegen sich von Geocache zu Geocache mit Hilfe von Geocachern wie Dir. Schau Dir den Abschnitt "Was soll ich tun, wenn ich einen Trackable finde" im Leitfaden an, um zu erfahren, wie Du einen Trackable loggst und selbst reisen lassen kannst.
Geocoins sind individuell gefertigte Medaillien, die durch Einzelpersonen oder Gruppen von Geocachern als eine Art Signatur oder Visitenkarte erstellt wurden. Sie funktionieren genau wie Travel-Bug-Trackables und sollen zu einem anderen Geocache bewegt werden, sofern nichts anders von ihren Besitzern angegeben wurde.
Andere Trackables gibt es in unterschiedlichen Formen wie Aufnäher, Schlüsselanhänger und vieles mehr. Ein gemeinsames Merkmal der Trackables ist, dass sie eine eindeutigen ID-Code und den Hinweis, dass Sie auf Geocaching.com verfolgbar sind, tragen.
Halte Dich an die "Goldene Regel", wenn Du einen Travel-Bug findest. Die meisten Besitzer möchten, dass ihr Travel-Bug weit reist, also versuche, ihn nicht zu lange zu behalten. Bitte informiere den Besitzer per E-Mail, wenn Du ihn länger als zwei Wochen behalten willst.

St. Johann, in Swiss German called «Santihans», is a part of the city in the north of Basel. It is surrounded by France in the North, the river Rhein in the East and other city parts in the South and West. St. Johann got its name from the Order of St. John.
The aim of the cache is to provide a safe spot for travel bugs. Easy to reach from the central station (tram no. 1 to “Burgfelderplatz”), the airport (bus no. 50 to “Kannenfeldplatz”) and by car (exit: «St. Johann»).

A Trackable is a sort of physical geocaching "game piece." You will often find them in geocaches or see them at geocaching gatherings. Each Trackable is etched with a unique code that can be used to log its movements on Geocaching.com as it travels in the real world. Some of these items have traveled hundreds of thousands of miles thanks to geocachers who move them from cache to cache!
There are three main types of Trackables: Travel Bug® Trackables, Geocoins and other Trackables.
A Travel Bug is a trackable tag attached to an item that geocachers call a "hitchhiker." Each Travel Bug has a goal set by its owner. Goals are typically travel-related, such as to visit every country in Europe or travel from coast to coast. Travel Bug Trackables move from cache to cache with the help of geocachers like you. See the "What do I do when I find a Trackable?" section of the guide for information on how you can help Trackables move.
Geocoins are customizable coins created by individuals or groups of geocachers as a kind of signature item or calling card. They function exactly like Travel Bug Trackables and should be moved to another cache, unless otherwise specified by their owners.
Other Trackable items come in various forms including patches, key rings and more. A common feature of Trackable items is that they bear a unique ID code and text noting that they are trackable at Geocaching.com.
Use the Golden Rule when you find a Travel Bug. Most owners would rather see their Travel Bug do a lot of travelling, so try not to hold on to a Travel Bug for too long. If you plan on holding onto the bug for more than 2 weeks, make sure to send a courtesy email to the owner letting them know.
