**Due to changes in Geocaching.com guidelines, all events must last a minimum of 30 minutes.**
(Keep an eye out for announcements in case weather is an issue.)

What is a flash mob? And what is a World Wide Flash Mob? Scroll down to the bottom of the description for those answers if you are unfamiliar.

The Mission:
Arrive at the site between 15 and 30 minutes prior to the event. Blend into the crowd and don't acknowledge the other Geocachers... yet. (This is key to all successful flash mobs)
12:00 Noon
The Signal will be the popping of a balloon at (or near) to the Forks Circle. The host, Glacier_ice will be blowing up a balloon that will 'accidentally' pop. One of the three Ice Cubes (Geo kids) will express his/her displeasure at 'their' balloon popping.
That's when the flash mob begins. 'Agents' (that's us geocachers!) will then appear from everywhere and blow up balloons that are stored in their pockets or bags. We want to see a large number of balloons being blown up and then handed to muggle kids that are in the area. We want to hand out as many balloons as we can in 5 minutes.
12:05 The Surprise
It turns out that this year's WWFM event falls on Ice Cube #1's 12th birthday! (The WWFM falls on different dates each year.)
At the next signal (you'll know it when you hear it) all of the Agents will stop and sing Happy Birthday to Ice Cube #1. The surprise is... he doesn't know this will happen! He only knows about the Balloon Madness. Make sure to NOT wish him a Happy Birthday until we sing to him. (ALSO, If there are any other June 10th birthdays among the Geocaching crowd, let me know by contacting me directly, especially if there's another person we can surprise!)
12:06 - 12:15 Continue to hand out Balloons and drop your Geocaching name into the receptical. (For the FTF draw. Please make sure your entry is business card size, or smaller.)
12:15 Flash Mob ends. The Gathering then needs to move to a different space for the last 15 minutes of the event. We will then take a short walk to the other side of the Johnston Terminal to the Oodena Celebration Circle. Both areas are wheelchair friendly, so this will make this event fully wheelchair accessible.
12:20 draw for FTF (for those who participated in the Flash Mob.)
12:25 Group Photo (for the WWFM website. Save at least one balloon to hold in this photo.)
12:30 Disperse
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
First off, a flash mob is NOT this. (see photo)
A flash mob is best described as this. (see video)
A flash mob is a group of people who assemble suddenly in a public place, perform an unusual and seemingly pointless act for a brief time, then quickly disperse, often for the purposes of entertainment, satire, and artistic expression.
What is a World Wide Flash Mob? It is when a flash mob happens around the world, at the exact same moment in time, adjusted for time zones. (Be thankful we live here in Winnipeg or our flash mob time would be really late. Sydney Australia is 3am!)
You can visit this site to see the WWFM page with 'attendee tips'. As well, the same page will have photos from Flash Mobs around the world!
