Torre de Babel
A Torre de Babel é um dos contos mais relatados ao longo da História presente na tradição Hebraica, Católica e Suméria.
A versão católica refere a construção de uma enorme torre tanto em largura como em altura, construída pelos descendentes de Noé, entre os rios Tigre e Eufrates, num tempo em que todo o Mundo falava uma única língua. Esta torre tinha como objetivo alcançar o reino dos Céus.
A soberba dos homens em tentar alcançar o reino de Deus, de se atreverem a pensar que desta forma conseguiriam estar ao mesmo nível do seu Criador, enfureceu-O e, de forma a inviabilizar este projeto, causou um enorme vendaval sobre o mesmo.
A torre foi derrubada e os trabalhadores que nela se encontravam, ao se restabelecerem da queda, aperceberam-se que falavam línguas diferentes. A confusão (em hebraico “Babel”) instalara-se.
The Tower of Babel is one of the most told tales throughout history present in the Hebrew, Catholic and Sumerian tradition.
The catholic version refers to the construction of a huge tower in both width and height, built by the descendants of Noah, between the Tigris and Euphrates Rivers, at a time when the whole world spoke a single language. This tower was meant to reach the kingdom of Heaven.
The arrogance of men while trying to reach the kingdom of God, to dare to think that in this way they could be at the same level of their Creator, infuriated Him and, in order to make this project unfeasible, caused a great gale over it.
The tower was overthrown and the workers who were there, as they recovered from the fall, realized that they spoke different languages. The confusion (in Hebrew "Babel") had settled.
Um desses trabalhadores era o Humberto.
O Humberto era um rapaz de idade, até por ele, desconhecida, mas segundo os anciões da aldeia, já a suficiente para ter família e trabalhar nas grandes construções de então.
Humberto decidiu juntar-se aos seus amigos Asdrúbal, Inácio e Teófilo e foram contribuir para a realização deste grande marco do seu povo.
Humberto: “Meus amigos e irmãos, que me dizem de honrarmos o nosso povo, tentando alcançar a graça do nosso Deus chegando até Ele nesta obra magnífica de pura persistência e força de vontade da nossa nação?”
Ao que os restantes responderam: “Pode ser, não tínhamos mesmo nada para fazer hoje à tarde.”
Humberto e os amigos decidiram unir-se a esta causa e pôr mãos à obra. Infelizmente, esse foi o dia em que Deus achou que a prepotência dos seus seguidores teria atingido níveis inaceitáveis.
One of the workers was Humberto.
Humberto was a boy of age, even by him, unknown, but according to the ancients of the village, already old enough to have a family and to work in the great constructions of that time.
Humberto decided to join his friends Asdrúbal, Inácio and Teófilo and contribute in a great project of his people.
Humberto: "My friends and brothers, what do you think about honoring our people, trying to reach the grace of our God, coming to Him in this magnificent work of pure persistence and willpower of our nation?"
The others answeres, "We're ok with that, we did not have any plans for the afternoon."
Humberto and his friends decided to join this cause and get to work. Unfortunately, that was the day God found that the prepotency of his followers reached unacceptable levels.
Num dia inicialmente solarengo e calmo, as nuvens começaram a surgir e uma leve brisa se intensificou até que toda a torre desabou numa amálgama de barro, pedra e homens.
Após o estrondo inicial, os trabalhadores começaram a se reerguer e Humberto desde logo começou a procurar os seus amigos.
“Meus irmãos, onde estão, estão magoados? Conseguem ouvir-me?” diz Humberto enquanto percorria os escombros com um olhar preocupado.
Lá ao fundo e com uma voz arranhada pela dor da qual o seu corpo padecia, respondeu Asdrúbal: “Bróðir minn hvernig ert þú? Ég skil ekki neitt sem þú segir. Meiða þig í munni?”
Humberto ficou estupefacto pois nunca havia ouvido tais sons tão diferentes da língua de todos. Enquanto Humberto e Asdrúbal se encaravam com alguma estranheza eis que surgiu Inácio.
“Bracia, co tu się stało? Bo oni patrzą na mnie dziwnie?” disse Inácio enquanto a estranheza do momento se foi generalizando entre todo o povo, somente agravada pela chegada de Teófilo que, num tom não menos aterrorizado que os restantes amigos, articula um novo conjunto de sons também desconhecidos: "Fraților, ce sa întâmplat?”
Humberto abalado com esta situação deveras peculiar, entendeu que estava a presenciar o castigo da audácia do Homem e que o mundo não mais seria a preto e branco…
In an initially sunny and calm day, the clouds began to rise and a slight breeze intensified until the whole tower collapsed in an amalgam of clay, stone, and men.
After the initial crash, the workers began to rise and Humberto soon started looking for his friends.
“Meus irmãos, onde estão, estão magoados? Conseguem ouvir-me?” says Humberto as he races over the rubble with a worried look.
A few meters over and with a voice scratched by the pain of which his body was suffering, Asdrúbal answered: “Bróðir minn hvernig ert þú? Ég skil ekki neitt sem þú segir. Meiða þig í munni?”
Humberto was astonished since he had never heard such sounds so different from the language of all. While Humberto and Asdrúbal faced each other with some strangeness, Inácio appeared.
“Bracia, co tu się stało? Bo oni patrzą na mnie dziwnie?” said Inácio, as the strangeness of the moment spread among the people, only aggravated by the arrival of Teófilo, whom in a tone no less terrified than the other friends articulated a new set of sounds also unknown: "Fraților, ce sa întâmplat?”
Humberto, shaken by this peculiar situation, understood that he was witnessing the punishment for the audacity of Men, and that the world wasn't going to be in black and white anymore ...
