Ruby Mountain cache will be a great hike.
The Ruby Mountain cache is a nice hike that will take you to a very pretty area of the Buena Vista, Colorado area. Have fun with this one, and just maybe you might find a ruby.... but probably not as this mountain was named for the garnets (red) found in the area and not the gemstone ruby. Garnet and topaz specimens can be found by sorting the talus rock at the base of the cliffs. This area is also known for black obsidian popular with mineral collectors and are called Apache tears.
Ruby Mountain is one of the most popular campground sites in the area, especially for private boaters. Along with the excellent river access, several trails in the area lead into the backcountry. Don't forget to look up as you seek this cache, the views may take your breath away.
