Crosswinds Marsh Meanderings 2017 Series
For the third year in a row we continue the geocaching community’s recognition of Wayne County’s efforts in providing replacement wildlife wetlands habitat removed by the Detroit Metro Airport expansion. Crosswinds Marsh Wetland Interpretive Preserve is one of the largest man-made wetlands in the country. It was built to replace the wetlands that were paved over to expand Wayne County's (the McNamara terminal). Wayne County, The area is managed by the Wayne County Parks.

On August 12 the Parks system put on a Hobby day and invited some members of MIGO to participate. As part of the day's activities a Geocahing event was held which included the launch of 12 Geocaches dedicated to the various activities associated with the reserve. This cache is one of them.

A link to all 12 of the caches may be FOUND HERE. In the cover of the cache you will find a four digit code. Record this code for entering into a online form for registration for a commemorative collectible for those that complete the series. The link to the form is found HERE.

CMA04 – Interpretive Programs
We’ve all been there, you go for a hike and somebody points something out that you would have otherwise completely missed. That’s the great thing about going on a guided hike. The naturalist knows the trails as well as the interesting features found on those trails. The person also has a keen eye for spotting wildlife that is perfectly blended to their environment and may go unnoticed by the untrained eye. At Crosswinds Marsh, the naturalists offer a variety of interpretive programs with themes that range from wildlife, plants and trees, and wetland adaptations, to science experiments, edible plants, nature-related and recycled crafts, and pollution in the ecosystem. We offer programs for groups such as schools, families, senior citizens, people with disabilities, Boy and Girl Scouts, and canoeing enthusiasts.
