Geocache Description:

The cache is not at this location. The co-ordinates of the cache are:

N 52° 1A.BC1 W 001° D.EF1

  1. Enter the church yard via the east gate and you will immediately see a board.
The 6th number in the telephone number gives you A.
Take the sum of all the (11) digits in the telephone number, and subtract from this the numerical value of the 3rd and 8th letters of the Vicar's name (eg. a=1). The resultant figure is BC.
  2. Walk around the path anti-clockwise and you will come to a bench in memory of Robert John ???. The numberical value of the last letter of his name doubled equals DE.
  3. Continue anti-clockwise around the path until you get to the west facing wall of the church. Along this path you will find the beautiful headstone of Honour York. On finding the year she passed away, subtract the last number from the second to get F.

St Lawrence Church, Long Buckby

Long Buckby has an extensive history; the village was recorded in the Domesday Book as Buchebei. Today the mound remaining of a castle built by Sahir de Quincy in the 12th century remains.

The parish church, St. Lawrence, has an impressive Early English, tall, square belltower, dating back to the 12th century and containing a clock and 5 bells dating from 1624 to 1814. The main part of the church was added later with subsequent alterations to the north and south aisles. The church was restored internally in 1862, the external restoration of the south aisle was carried out in 1883, and the north aisle was restored in 1885. Along the sides are high gothic windows.
