Geocache Description:


This series of caches is placed along the trail going to Palo Santa Maria waterfall (click). From Puerto Vallarta, take the orange bus to Boca from the Zona Romantica’s Basillo Badillo & Constitucion streets (8 pesos) and get off at the trail head.

The trail requires a reasonable level of fitness due to heat, humidity and scrambling over and around numerous boulders. There are several river crossings; wading may be required during the rainy season, otherwise boulder-hopping is sufficient. The trail is well marked and a guide is not necessary -- just keep heading up the river(bed). The falls and a nice swimming hole are at the end of the trail. Several other falls lie beyond the first one, but access necessitates scaling the falls with rope/cables on the left side, which is not advised.. The entire series is less than 3 km roundtrip

All caches are small containers, and all but one are on the ground hidden by rocks. Please use STEALTH when required and re-hide as found. Attributes, difficulty and terrain ratings are an average for the series and trail.

NOTE:

GPSr reception in this canyon is poor at the best of times. You should pay close attention to the hints and spoiler pics to locate the cache containers. Please feel free to replace the containers when and where you feel warranted. The jungle, river, and "poor reception" often claim a container.

Esta serie de cachés se sitúa a lo largo del sendero que va a la cascada de Palo Santa María (click). Desde Puerto Vallarta, tome el autobús naranja hacia Boca desde las calles Basillo Badillo y Constitución de la Zona Romantica (8 pesos) y bájese en la pista.

El sendero requiere un nivel razonable de acondicionamiento físico debido al calor, la humedad y el desborde sobre y alrededor de numerosos cantos rodados. Hay varios cruces de río; Vadeo puede ser necesario durante la temporada de lluvias, de lo contrario boulder-hopping es suficiente. El sendero está bien marcado y un guía no es necesario - sólo mantener la dirección del río (cama). Las cataratas y un bonito agujero de natación están al final del sendero. Varias otras caídas se encuentran más allá de la primera, pero el acceso requiere la escala de las caídas con cuerdas / cables en el lado izquierdo, lo que no es aconsejado ..
