Geocache Description:

The Annual Gnome Games return for a third year on Saturday 3rd June 2017.

After the success of the first and second Annual Gnome Games, this friendly competition between the good gnomes of different counties and countries are returning for a third year. This year it will be bigger and better than ever, with many of the previous games, but also some new ones!

Location :
Rural Cheshire (near Oakmere) amongst the Fields and Hedgerows loved by the gnomes!
Access from Farm Road, just off the A556 Chester Road – it will be signposted!
Use the Co-ordinates at the top of the page, or CW8 2HB in your Satnav

Date and Time :
Saturday 3rd June 2017 from 14:00 to 18:00

Teams :
As there has been lots of interest from further afield, this year the teams will change from Wirral, Cheshire and Rest of the World to red, blue and yellow. Attendees will be allocated to teams and issued with their “team colours” on arrival.

Format of Day :
The afternoon will kick off with a procession of the team flags, led by the respective team captains.

This will be followed by the various events. For some, each person may participate for their team and the best result will count for the team. For others, it may be necessary to hold heats to determine who represents their team in the final.

The games will include old favourites like snow shoe waddle, welly wanging, flower pot shuffle, wheelbarrow trundle, fairy ring sitting, balloon popping and skipping as well as some new games that are being kept secret until the day! The games and the schedule may change depending on weather etc.

The afternoon will finish with the awards ceremony. There will be individual medals and the overall winning team will be awarded with The Ashes (the remains of the first Gnome King's pointy hat).

Fancy Dress (preferably with a gnome theme) is optional, but we encourage attendees to get in the spirit of the games and dress up. There will be prizes for the best dressed child and best dressed adult.

Throughout the day there will be a variety of activities for the children including Geocaching Bingo, Ball tossing, Ladybugs & Bees and Stone Drawing.

As with all geocaching you take full responsibility for your own safety. This event is a bit of fun and is not a serious competition (it's for the gnomes which are of course serious but you are not a gnome so it can't be serious). You do not need to take part in the games to log an attend, just come along to watch the fun and enjoy the stalls.

Stalls :
The Gnome Games team will be selling its “Gnome Games Trackable Tags” and this years version of the NEW “Gnome Games Geocoins”. Orders can be placed for personalised polo shirts, hoodies and fleeces.

Various geocaching companies and Mega event organising teams have been invited to come to this event and sell their merchandise. We will provide updates on who will be attending nearer the time. Other organisations and companies have also been invited to attend to make these games extra special.

“URNie” the trackable tea urn will be on site for hot drinks. Savoury snacks, strawberries and cream, biscuits and cakes and maybe even ice creams will be available on the day.

Accommodation :
There is no accommodation at the Gnome Games venue. However, for those wishing to visit for the whole weekend there are various B&Bs, Country Inns and campsites nearby. Slightly further afield are hotels, travel lodges etc.

Geocaches :
We are planning to place some new geocaches in the area so that attendees can also explore the nearby countryside that the local gnomes call “home”. The following day, as in previous years, there will be a CITO event – watch for it going live. More details will be issued nearer the time.

When you register your "will attend", please indicate the number of members in your group, and the split between adults and children (under 15).
