On the northwest coast of Malta, near the town of Mġarr, Għajn Tuffieħa Bay is situated, one of three picturesque, sandy beaches. The two others are Golden Bay to the north and Ġnejna Bay to the south.
The approximately 200 m long sandy beach with fine, reddish sand lies below the steep coast and is still undeveloped nature (except for a small beach bistro). A staircase with over 200 steps, starting on the small peninsula and separating the Għajn Tuffieħa Bay from the Golden Bay, leads down to the beach. The water is crystal clear and very clean. Along the coastal path you can walk to Ġnejna Bay in about 20 minutes.
On top of the cliffs, west of Għajn Tuffieħa Bay, stands one of the seven old defensive towers, built in 1637 by Grand Master Giovanni Paolo Lascaris.
To the south is a fascinating rock formation, which can be circled completely. The view into the bays, the rocks and the sea is stunning.
In memory of our Malta holiday, we hid a traditional cache in this charming environment on the day of our anniversary.

An der Nordwestküste Maltas in der Nähe der Stadt Mġarr ist Għajn Tuffieħa Bay, einer von drei malerischen, sandigen Stränden. Die anderen beiden sind im Norden Golden Bay und im Süden Ġnejna Bay.
Der etwa 200 m lange Sandstrand mit feinem, rötlichem Sand liegt unterhalb der Steilküste und ist (bis auf ein kleines Strandbistro) noch unbebaute Natur. Eine Treppe mit über 200 Stufen, die auf der kleinen Halbinsel beginnt und die Għajn Tuffieħa Bay von der Golden Bay trennt, führt hinunter zum Strand. Das Wasser ist kristallklar und sehr sauber. Über den Küstenpfad kann man in etwa 20 Minuten zur Ġnejna Bay hinüber wandern.
Oben auf den Klippen westlich von Għajn Tuffieħa Bay steht einer der sieben alten Verteidigungstürme, der 1637 von Großmeister Giovanni Paolo Lascaris erbaut wurde.
Im Süden befindet sich eine faszinierende Felsformation, welche man komplett umrunden kann. Die Aussicht in die Buchten, auf die Felsen und aufs Meer ist umwerfend.
Zur Erinnerung an unseren Malta-Urlaub haben wir an unserem Jahrestag einen Tradi in dieser reizvollen Umgebung versteckt.
