EARTH DAY WEEKEND! Earth Day is on April 22, 2017. This event is on the 23rd for those who couldn't attend an event yesterday. Also, earn a geocaching Souvenir at this event for helping clean up our playground!
I am an Official Douglas County Open Space volunteer, so I will be heading it up this year with the help of natural resource specialist Jackie. This event will begin at 4:00pm and go until we are done or 6:00pm, whichever comes first...
We will be focusing on litter clean up, and if we have enough volunteers, we will also continue to remove the invasive plant species that we've worked on previously. For those who have been coming, there is a NOTICEABLE difference in the park from what we have removed!
Provided: Trash bags by Douglas County Open Space (DCOS), bottled water and snacks by DCOS, 2017 Gold GCCO Geocoin for prize, 2016/2017 GCCO Geocoins for purchase, and other prizes may be available as well provided by hosts.
Bring: Yourself, your family, your friends, ready to work! Gloves, extra water and snacks, shovel or weeding tools if you have any, jeans are recommended too.
Waivers will need to be signed and will be provided on site. Any minors will need a waiver signed by the parent or guardian as well. Please RSVP so I can plan assignments. Many hands make light work!
