Geocache Description:

Easy to find, a bit harder to get to.

I can imagine Nana sitting in this cozy cottage by the tracks watching the slow freight and the fast passenger trains going by, to and from Norfolk and Portsmouth for years and years - first the Ten Wheelers and Consolidations, and then later Pacifics and Mikados untl the diesels took over, many looking like courting male birds with their bright colors. So come back to those thrilling days of yesteryear.  I'd suggest that flip flops and shorts are not what to wear to visit a lady in her home.  She also might not want you to track mud into her home, so don't come after some heavy rain unless you came properly shod for a lot of squishy stuff.  Technical stuff:  Co-ordinates were determined by three Garmins - an old basic eTrex, a 62S and a 64S.  The eTrex took seven readings while the Maps used the averaging mode.  North readings went from  492 to 499 while West ranged from 543 to 549.  On nice days this area is going to be heavy muggle heaven at times.   This is a strange request, but I'd like to ask all the FTF hounds to hold back at least 24 hours from publication to allow a lady an opportunity for a FTF.  Remember, while her mate is retired, she still watches over a brood who can not be taken through thorns and over rotting logs.  All trail rules apply here.

Congratulations to SNAP for FTF and to 2112RUSH who is now a member of the Order of the Orange Bird House for his gentlemanly surrender of FTF to a lady. So let it be written; so let it be done. Note - totally not essential for finding the cache. This RtT was originally the main line of the Seaboard Airline going into Portsmouth. Its diesels were painted white and red or green, yellow & orange. When the SAL and the Atlantic Coast Line merged, I assume that ACL diesels appeared. They were red and white, purple and white, and black and yellow. These were followed by the Seaboard Coast Line diesels, most of whom were black and yellow, but SAL and ACL painted diesels probably rode the rails past Nana's cottage for years. Earlier steam locomotives were black with some white markings - courting birds they were not. ! Winner of the SNAP Cache of the Day Award ! The Hidey Awards committee is pleased to announce to the geocaching world that this geocache won the Bronze - Outstanding Micro Cache
