Nous vous proposons un parcours de 5 caches virtuelles menant à une cache finale dans le centre-ville d’Orange, réalisé par les élèves du Lycée Lucie Aubrac sur le thème du patrimoine de l’UNESCO. Cette série s’inscrit dans un projet pédagogique européen Erasmus + baptisé « Minds on the Move » (« des esprits en mouvement ») auquel participent des élèves et des professeurs de 7 pays (Espagne, France, Grèce, Italie, Lituanie, Pologne, Portugal) entre 2016 et 2018.

We offer you a 5 virtual caches trail in the city center of Orange. It was made by the pupils of the Lucie Aubrac High School in Bollène, who worked on the topic of World Heritage Sites. This series is a part of a pedagogic European Erasmus + project called « Minds on the Move ». Pupils and teachers from seven different countries (France, Greece, Italy, Lithuania, Poland, Portugal and Spain) are being involved in that project which is meant to last from 2016 to 2018.

Le but : résoudre les énigmes correspondant à chaque étape pour accéder à la cache suivante. ATTENTION : à chaque arrêt, vous devrez trouver la cache réelle la plus proche sur laquelle sera inscrit un chiffre qui vous donnera une coordonnée de la cache finale, sauf pour la cache 4, il faudra deviner le chiffre par la résolution d’une petite énigme).
Les caches sont toutes des caches mystères. Nous avons ajouté un waypoint pour vous indiquer comment rejoindre l’étape 4.

The goal : at each step (=each cache) you will have to solve a mystery to get the coordinates of the next one. Simultaneously, you have to find the nearest REAL cache on which you will find a letter with a corresponding number at each step of the way : A,B,C,D (=1,3,6 for ex):they correspond to the coordinates of the final cache (these numbers will be placed on the existing caches , except for #step4 : you will have to solve a simple enigma).
All the caches are mystery caches. We have added another to show you how to get from step 3 to step 4.

 L’Arc de Triomphe :

Edifié sur la voie d’Agrippa qui reliait Arles à Lyon entre 30 et 20 avant J.C, ce gigantesque Arc symbolise la puissance de Rome et la fondation de la colonie d’Orange. A l’époque, il servait de porte d’entrée de la ville.

Translation of the board of information : the existence of the bishopric of Orange is testified as from the end of the fourth century. The Cathedral, erected near an episcopal basilica from the sixth century that has vanished ever since, was consecrated in 1208. The bell dom, erected in 1338, was inhabited by the provost of the Chapter in the Middle-Ages. On the 20th of December 1561, during the Religion wars, the Church is pillaged by the Huguenots : the very next day, it’s already used as a temple. 2 years later, the huge bell from the bell tower makes the dome that supports her weight break. Then the bell, which had remained untouched by the fall, is broken down thanks to mallets . During the French Revolution, the building becomes a temple of reason : the bishopric was never established again.
Given back to its cult, Notre-dame was the only parish in Orange at the beginning of the 19th century.

Walk to the indicated point, and admire the huge ancient wall in front of you :

You are now in front of the Antique theatre of Orange → answer the following question :

Translation of the information board (step3):

The previous canal geared to the flux of sewage, the Pontillac started at the tip of the current street Saint-Florent and crossed Orange from East to West, passing in front of the theater, to join the gap of Saint-Martin. This real open air sewer is covered in 1718, and the present Pontillac’s street follows a part of its route.

In the early 1760's, when Saint-Martin's avenue was created, a new canal was made for the water supply of the city at the exit of the old Pontillac canal, the gap of the old fortification having been closed. The Pontillac road is crossed by a roman wall, surely belonging to the ancient forum, in which an arch was made in order to let the street go through.

 Use the waypoint in order to climb up the hill and go to the next point : now find the answer to the following questions :
