MANCHETE
A Praça Adolpho Bloch fica entre as ruas Colômbia, México e Peru, no Jardim Paulista, Pinheiros, Zona Oeste. Oficializada através do Decreto 35.805, de 16/01/1996, seu nome homenageia o empresário nascido na Ucrânia em 08 de outubro de 1908.
Em 1917, aos 9 anos, Adolpho assistiu a guerra civil após a queda do czar, e a condição dos judeus fez com que sua família se mudasse para o Brasil em 1922. Com os poucos recursos que trouxe da Rússia, seu pai Josef Bloch abriu uma pequena gráfica, onde Adolpho ajudava quando não estava estudando.
Com a morte do pai, lançou em 1952, a Revista Manchete, que se tornou uma das maiores do País, depois que Bloch inaugurou a primeira sucursal em Brasília.
Em 1983, criou a Rede Manchete de Televisão, com equipamentos sofisticados e programação que incluía novelas e noticiários. Após uma crise, a emissora foi vendida em 1992. Pouco depois, Adolpho alegou que o comprador não cumpriu alguns termos do contrato, e a emissora voltou a seu comando por meio de uma medida judicial em 1993. Continuou na presidência da Rede Manchete até sua morte, vítima de edema pulmonar na capital, a 19 de novembro de 1995, aos 87 anos. Seus filhos assumiram a emissora, que foi vendida em 1999 após uma intensa crise, tornando-se a RedeTV!
The Adolpho Bloch Square is between Colombia, Mexico and Peru streets, in Jardim Paulista, Pinheiros, Zona Oeste. Officialized through Decree 35805, dated 01/16/1996, its name honors the businessman born in Ukraine on October 8, 1908.
In 1917, at age 9, Adolpho attended the civil war after the fall of the tsar, and the condition of the Jews caused his family to move to Brazil in 1922. With the few resources he brought from Russia, his father Josef Bloch opened A small chart, where Adolpho helped when he was not studying.
With the death of his father, in 1952 he launched the Manchete magazine, which became one of the largest in Brazil after Bloch inaugurated the first branch in Brasilia.
In 1983, he created the Manchete Television Network, with sophisticated equipment and programming that included soap operas and news broadcasts. After a crisis, the station was sold in 1992. Shortly thereafter, Adolpho claimed that the buyer did not fulfill some terms of the contract, and the station returned to his command by means of a judicial measure in 1993. He continued in the presidency of the Network Manchete until his Death, a victim of pulmonary edema in the capital, on November 19, 1995, at the age of 87. Her children took over the station, which was sold in 1999 after an intense crisis, becoming RedeTV!
