Interestingly opposite the church is a new housing development, which was completed in 2016. Previously on the site was Caterham Valley Board School which was one of the oldest buildings in Caterham, built in the 1872. In laters years it became an adult education centre, until 2008 when it closed down. Some parts of the original building still remain including some of the structure and railings. The 'no thoroughfare' sign near the cache is also original.
