Le "Bleu de Vire"...
Il ne sagit pas d'un fromage !!! mais du phare de Ouistreham (tout en granite) et auquel on accède au sommet (38 m) par ses 171 marches en "bleu de Vire".
LE PHARE EN GRANITE...
Le granite est une roche plutonique magmatique à texture grenue utilisée en construction..
Cette roche est produite par l'agrégation de parties cristallines confusément juxtaposées. Les éléments qui la composent sont le quartz, le feldspath et le mica.
LE "BLEU DE VIRE"...
Le massif de Vire se prolonge à l’Ouest jusqu’à la mer (Manche) avec le massif de Carolles. Le granit de Vire ou « bleu de vire » (Granodiorite cadomienne) est gris, à grain fin, riche en mica; il se taille facilement, et certaines variétés sont même très-tendres. Il est employé fréquemment pour les monuments.
La ville de Vire est bâtie essentiellement sur les cornéennes, en bordure du massif de granite qui s’étend très largement au sud. Les cornéennes et la granodiorite de Vire, vestiges de la chaîne cadomienne érigée entre 600 et 550 millions d’années, appartiennent au socle cadomien du massif armoricain, et plus particulièrement au domaine de la Mancellia qui s’étend entre les synclinaux paléozoïques de la zone bocaine au Nord et de Laval au Sud.
Ce "granite" de Vire a été très exploité comme matériau de construction et pour les travaux de viabilité (pavés et bordures de trottoir) ; une seule carrière est encore en exploitation, à Saint-Michel-de-Montjoie. Il ne resterait qu'un centre d’extraction du « Bleu de vire ».
Le parc-musée du granit de Saint-Michel-de-Montjoie, en Normandie, retrace l’histoire de cette industrie déclinante.
De nombreux ouvrages ont été réalisés avec le Granit bleu de Vire, notamment à Paris ou vous l'avez sans doute piétiné sans le savoir ???

It is not a cheese !!! But of the lighthouse of Ouistreham which one reaches the summit (38 m)by its 171 marches in granite called "blue of Vire".
GRANITE LIGHT ...
Granite is a magmatic plutonic rock with a grainy texture used in construction.
This rock is produced by the aggregation of confusedly juxtaposed crystalline parts. The elements that compose it are quartz, feldspar and mica.
THE "BLEU DE VIRE" ...
The massif of Vire extends westwards to the sea (Channel) with the massif of Carolles. The granite of Vire or "bleu de vire" (Cadomian granodiorite) is gray, fine grain, rich in mica; It is easy to cut, and some varieties are very tender. It is used frequently for monuments.
The town of Vire is built mainly on the corneennes, on the edge of the granite massif which extends very largely to the south. The corneennes and the granodiorite of Vire, vestiges of the Cadomian chain erected between 600 and 550 million years ago, belong to the Cadomian base of the Armorican massif, and more particularly to the Mancellia domain which extends between the Palaeozoic synclines of the area Bocaine in the North and Laval in the South.
This "granite" of Vire has been used extensively as a building material and for viability work (pavements and curbs); A single quarry is still in operation at Saint-Michel-de-Montjoie. There would be only one extraction center of the "Bleu de vire".
The granite park of Saint-Michel-de-Montjoie, in Normandy, traces the history of this declining industry.
Many works have been done with the Blue Granite of Vire, especially in Paris where you probably trampled without knowing it ???
