Geocache Description:

The village sign for Cockley Cley shows it's church, All Saints, one of 124 existing round-tower churches in Norfolk. However on 29th August 1991 the medieval tower collapsed. The church was "restored" between 1866-88 by Richard Phipson, but most of the original medieval building was lost to the restoration.

Thankfully the interior was not harmed by the tower's collapse and exhibits the Victorian concept of how a church should look. The north arcade is 14th century, and it has been copied for the south arcade.

From 1975 a reconstructed Iceni village was a visitor attraction at Cockley Cley. It finally closed in 2014.

If anybody would like to expand this series please do. I would just ask that you let Smokeypugs know first so they can keep track of the Village Sign numbers and names to avoid duplication.
