Geocache Description:

Döner´ s Day - Dönerstag in Cape Town

Introducing a German Geocaching Event tradition in Cape Town laugh!

Dönerstag in Cape Town 2017

You can earn the first-ever Dönerstag souvenir by attending this event. Even if this event was published BEFORE knowing about this souvenir ;-)

In April 2007 a new idea was born in the German geocaching community: Geocachers joining decentralized events following the first 'Gründönerstag-Event' in Berlin: GC10XPP.

Since the day 'Gründönerstag-Events' started 2007, it spreaded all over Germany and the world, being celebrated each year on Maundy Thursday. The community always meets at a Döner/Kebab location somewhere in town.

Being this year´ s Maundy Thursday on holiday in Cape Town, we thought why not introduce that good old tradition here ;-)? Having a Döner, talking about geocaching and other important things, swapping travelbugs or coins. We hope we found a location that is suitable for it...

In 2014 we were able to host a Dönerstag Event at Sydney, Australia and this year we try to spread the tradition to South Africa as well - hoping to get many "will attends".

  • Location: ANAT Falafel & Shwarma, V&A Waterfront, Victoria Wharf, Ground & Lower Level, Shop 02a
  • Day: Thursday (Dönerstag)
  • Date: 13th April 2017
  • Time: 6pm (18:00) - 7 pm (19:00)

If you plan to come, please log a 'Will Attend' - we are looking forward to meet many local and tourist geoachers!

Of course it is NOT necessary to eat (even if it is not a döner) or drink something to attend this event - the logbook will be accessible somewhere right outside the location.

Kindly note that all items ordered are for the attendees account.

Greetings from Germany - Carkla & Mkers
