Esse cache é parte de uma Power Trail que segue pelo Parque Estadual dos Três Picos (PETP).
O Parque Estadual dos Três Picos é a maior Unidade de Conservação do Estado do Rio de Janeiro. O mesmo está distribuído ao longo dos municípios de Cachoeiras de Macacu, Nova Friburgo, Teresópolis, Guapimirim e Silva Jardim. Por ter sua maior área em região de montanha, o Parque abriga uma grande quantidade de nascentes, corredeiras, cachoeiras e constituiu-se um reduto exuberante de flora e fauna no coração do Estado do Rio de Janeiro.
Em cada cache dessa Trail, você terá oportunidade de conhecer uma espécie vegetal, animal, aspectos geomorfológicos, registros históricos e beleza cênica, todos diretamente relacionados ao Parque.

Plinia cauliflora
A jabuticaba ou jaboticaba é o fruto da jaboticabeira ou jabuticabeira, uma árvore frutífera brasileira da família das mirtáceas, nativa da Mata Atlântica. Com a recente mudança na nomenclatura botânica, há divergências sobre a classificação da espécie: Myrciaria cauliflora (Mart.) O. Berg. 1854, Plinia trunciflora (O. Berg) Kausel 1956 ou Plinia cauliflora (Mart.) Kausel 1956.Segundo Lorenzi et al., Plinia trunciflora seria outra espécie, a jabuticaba-café. A cidade de Jaboticabal, em São Paulo, foi nomeada em homenagem a essa planta.
Descrita inicialmente em 1828 a partir de material cultivado, sua origem é desconhecida. Outros nomes populares: jabuticabeira-preta, jabuticabeira-rajada, jabuticabeira-rósea, jabuticabeira-vermelho-branca, jabuticaba-paulista, jabuticaba-ponhema, jabuticaba-açu. Outra espécie de jabuticabeira é a Myrciaria jaboticaba (Vell.) Berg, conhecida como jabuticaba-sabará e encontrada com mais frequência nos estados de Goiás, Minas Gerais e São Paulo, no Brasil.

This cache is part of a Power Trail that follows the Three Peaks State Park (PETP).
The Três Picos State Park is the largest Conservation Unit in the State of Rio de Janeiro. The same is distributed throughout the municipalities of Cachoeiras de Macacu, Nova Friburgo, Teresópolis, Guapimirim and Silva Jardim. Due to its greater area in a mountainous region, the Park is home to a great number of springs, rapids, waterfalls and was an exuberant redoubt of flora and fauna in the heart of the State of Rio de Janeiro.
In each cache of this trail, you will have the opportunity to know a species of plant, animal, geomorphological aspects, historical records and scenic beauty, all directly related to the Park.

Plinia cauliflora
The jabuticaba or jaboticaba is the fruit of the jaboticabeira or jabuticabeira, a Brazilian fruit tree of the mirtáceas family, native to the Atlantic Forest. With the recent change in botanical nomenclature, there are divergences on the classification of the species: Myrciaria cauliflora (Mart.) O. Berg. (Plinia truliflora (O. Berg) Kausel 1956 or Plinia cauliflora (Mart.) Kausel 1956. According to Lorenzi et al., Plinia trunciflora would be another species, the jabuticaba-café. The city of Jaboticabal, in São Paulo, was named in honor of this plant.
Originally described in 1828 from cultivated material, its origin is unknown.
