Geocache Description:

This is one of 11 Geocaches supported by Wembury Local History Society. It is a War Memorial Geocache and recognses the the people of Wembury who died serving our country in wars of the 20th and 21st centuries. Joshua Hammond died in Afghanistan just eight days before his 19th birthday, the bench is dedicated to his life. The cache has been placed a little way from Joshua’s bench with full permission of his father, Peter Hammond.

This is a Multicache.  The coordinates take you to the place where you will be able to puzzle out the position of the geocache's hiding place. Please do not dig around in this area as the cache is not here.   Take your time at this beautiful place, sit and think about what this place means.  Think of this young man, his sacrifice and also of his family.

To find the cache, solve this puzzle:  AB.AC.DBBA - AD.AC.EAAB.

Work out what numbers the letters A to E represent.

From this work out the co ordinates for the actual cache - N 50 19.A(D+E)(C-D). W 004 05.(C-D)EC.

Overhead foliage affects the stability of the GPS, be prepared for a bit of a search.

Please replace the cache exactly as per hint, well out of sight. Thank you.

IMPORTANT: There is limited mobile signal (phone or Internet) in Wembury. Make sure you have downloaded all that you need (especially the hint) before you leave.

There are three more War Graves in the Churchyard, two in the Old Yard and one in the New Yard.

Private Jeremiah Siyabi of the South Africa Native Labour Contingent - (1873 - 30th March 1918) - Plot 1 Old yard.
