Geocache Description:

[HR]

  • B. Ukupan zbroj svih ljudi u čamcu u svim vrstama veslačkih čamaca do 31.12.2016. (prema FISA pravilniku o natjecanjima)
  • C. Ukupan zbroj svih vesala u svim vrstama veslačkih čamaca do 31.12.2016. (prema FISA pravilniku o natjecanjima)
  • D. Ukupan broj pokretnih sjedala u svim vrstama veslačkih čamaca do 31.12.2016.

Veslački klub iz zadatka I. je organizirao veslačku regatu. Učestvuju samo dvije posade i to dva dvojca sa kormilarom u kategoriji veterani. Oba čamca startaju sa iste pozicije i kreću se prema cilju kojega označavamo sa nulom. Početna pozicija je standarna dužina veslačke regate u kategoriji za veterane. Nakon nekoga vremena čamac 2 se zaustavlja jer su imali nezgodu (razlog nezgode ćete uočiti na samom kešu na finalnoj lokaciji), dok čamac 1 nastavlja dalje još neko vrijeme te se i on zaustavlja zbog kolegijalnosti. U ovoj utrci nema pobjednika. Udaljenost do cilja kojega označavamo sa nulom dati će potrebne koordinate. Čamac 1 – XXX; Čamac 2 – YYY;

Čamac 1 je uspio prijeći udaljenost (((F + A) x B) + C + E – D - 2) prije nego se zaustavio Čamac 2 je uspio prijeći udaljenost (H x I x J - G - 10) prije nego se zaustavio

[EN]

Rowing can be an individual and group water sport, where the person or persons in the boat propel the vessel by the power of their muscles, using the poles called oars. Oars are long poles with a grip on the one end, while the other, wider and flatter, end is immersed in water. There exist two types of oars, blades and sculls, which differ according to the size that is immersed in the water; the sculls have a greater blade area. There exist two forms of rowing: sweep rowing and sculling. In sweep rowing, each rower handles one oar (cca 3.8 m in length) and is indicated by a number followed by the + or - symbol representing whether or not there is a helmsman, while the sculling includes handling two oars (each cca 3 m in length) and is indicated by an X. In English, the term shell is often used for the boat because the shell plating is often only a few millimetres thick in order to minimize the weight. These boats are also very long and, while the boats for competition are usually as narrow as possible, the training or recreational boats can be slightly wider. Each rower has his back to the direction of boat movement and the force is produced by a united movement of the rower's legs, torso and hands, transmitted from the oars onto the water. The rower sits on a sliding seat that rolls on two parallel tracks Rowing competitions are called regattas. Rowing is a standard Olympic sport, and is also a very popular academic sport, especially widespread on the US and UK universities. The rowing tradition in Croatia is long and successful and is one of the most successful Croatian sports, judging by the number of medals won at the Olympic Games and World rowing championships. The 31st Olympic Games saw two Croatian crews that won medals: Golden Martin and Valent Sinković (brothers) and the silver „Zagreb's Vukovarian“ Damir Martin.

Before the construction of the Jarun Recreational Sports Center all rowing was done on the river Sava. This cache takes us back in history when many rowers could be seen rowing on the river Sava, from the popular „green bridge“ (railroad bridge), beneath the Most Slobode (Freedom Bridge) all the way to the old red bridge (this bridge no longer exists, but the new Most Mladosti (Youth bridge) has been constructed in its vicinity). The cache is not on starting coordinates. There you will find a rowing club (to be more precise, the terrace of the rowing club from which the crews started off towards Sava) which will be a starting point where you will find items necessary to solve a the task and acquire final coordinates, in the meantime also getting acquainted with this Olympic sport. Neccessary data you can find at: http://www.veslanje.hr/ and    in FISA document  http://FISA Rule book/

Your task is to research or find the details under letters A to K. The numbers obtained then need to be inserted in the formula hereunder which will then reveal the location of the hidden treasure. Note: Calculations are to be done regardless of the age and gender. Each task to be read carefully, as you need to be careful of catching a „crab“ (A rowing error where the rower is unable to timely remove or release the oar blade from the water and the oar blade acts as a brake on the boat until it is removed from the water):
  • A. Number of rowing classes of boat until December 31, 2016. (FISA rules of racing)
  • B. Total number of all people in a boat in all classes of boat until December 31, 2016. (FISA rules of racing)
  • C. Total number of all oars in classes of boat until December 31, 2016. (FISA rules of racing)
  • D. Total number of movable seats (slides) in all classes of boat until December 31, 2016. (FISA rules of racing)
  • E. Total number of rowers (and coxswain) at the Olympics (Croatian rowers (and coxswain) starting with the year 1992.)
  • F. Total number of rowers (and coxswain) who have won medal/medals (Only Croatian rowers (and coxswain) starting with the year 1992.)
  • G. World record in an eight (8+)(FISA)
  • H.  If we know that there used to be rowing on the Sava river, how many steps did the athlete  need to cross in order to lower the boat to the  river and returned it later in hangar(the current number of steps, if the boat  was on the terrace; count only the steps on the south side of the north Sava bank– counted as a sum, as there are two sets of steps one next to the other (a double-digit number, greater  than 25, because the one set was used for lower the boat and the second set was used for returning))
  • I.  How many letters in the rowing club at the location (count only the letters in the club name)
  • J. How many colours is the crest of the rowing club from task I. composed of

The rowing club from task J. has organized a regatta for two crews, i.e. Coxed pair in the veteran (masters) category.  Both boats start from the same position and head toward the finish line, marked by 0. The starting position is the standard length of the regatta in the veteran (masters) category. After some time, the boat 2 stops because they had an accident (the reason for the accident shall be revealed on the final location in the cache itself), while the boat 1 continues on for a while longer before stopping for collegiality. This is a race with no winners. The distance to the finish line marked with 0 shall provide the necessary coordinates. Boat 1 – XXX; Boat 2 – YYY;

Boat 1 has managed to cross (((F + A) x B) + C + E – D - 2) before stopping Boat 2 has managed to cross (H x I x J - G - 10) before stopping
