Geocache Description:

Travel to peaceful reservoirs, surround yourself in acres of trees, stop by tasty and artsy attractions, and take in some local history in Stark County, Ohio. Enjoy the hidden, and not so hidden, treasures at each location to earn a commemorative coin. You are looking for a devious cache. Tweezers and/or log book roller would be helpful with the log book.

Deer Creek Reservoir was built in 1954 as Alliance's primary drinking water supply. This 300-acre lake surrounded by forest features an accessible fishing pier, a boat ramp for electric motors only, picnic tables and grills, and a trailhead for the 4.46-mile Mahoning Valley Trail. View the boating and fishing guide here for a complete list of regulations. Formally dedicated in 1954, the man-made Deer Creek Reservoir serves as the primary water source for the nearby City of Alliance. Created by an earthen dam and 200-foot long spillway at the intersection of Deer Creek and Berlin Reservoir, the reservoir is part of a 37-mile watershed containing over one million gallons of water. Surrounded by nearly 1,000 acres of forested land, the 300-acre Deer Creek Reservoir serves as a recreational resource for northeastern Stark County. Bald eagles, osprey, and migrating waterfowl are commonly observed at the reservoir. White-tailed deer and coyote can be spotted in forested areas surrounding the reservoir. Picnic areas, an accessible fishing pier, and gravel boat launch are available for public use.
