Geocache Description:

What: A flash event on the 90th anniversary of a real-life Agatha Christie mystery
Where: The Silent Pool car park
When: Sunday 4-Dec-2016 9:00-9:30am
Who: All are welcome

Late at night on the 3rd December 1926 Agatha Christie left her home in Sunningdale after an argument with her husband Archie. She drove off and simply disappeared.

Early the following morning her car was discovered in a bush hanging over a chalk pit on the southern slope of Newlands Corner. Many believed that she had drowned in the Silent Pool. Thousands of people of people were involved in the ensuing manhunt, Dorothy L. Sayers helped in the search here, and Arthur Conan-Doyle enlisted the help of a medium.

Eleven days later she was discovered safe and well at a spa hotel in Harrogate, living under an assumed name. She claimed to have lost her memory and had no knowledge of how she got there.

The Silent Pool

This is a flash event and will only last half an hour. There will be a log book for you to sign, and you will have an opportunity to swap trackables. I will take a photo of all aspiring Poirots and Miss Marples to record the event.
