Donnacha: Thanks to everyone for attending the 2017 New Years Resolution Event. The number of people out walking this year was phenomenal, 65 bodies counted heading off up the hill. And speaking of the "hill start", thank you for your patience with the extra couple of kilometres due to the conditions at the upper car park.
There was an big turnout at the Rostrever Inn (54 was the number of raffle tickets handed out!) for lunch after, and I though the staff did rather well looking after all of us, so a big thanks to the staff.
I would like to thank Nigel and Jackie for their help in planning the route, as well as the highly enjoyable caches located around the route. The guys were also essential in helping me safely manage the large group around the route. Nigel also did a lot of work in the background contacting people to make sure everyone was aware of the event and also was responsible for the handouts you received at the start of the event. And what is an event without the traditional "Nigel Group Photo"? The group photo has been added to the top of the event page, and Nigel also took some other great photos throughout the walk which he has attached to his log (Halywid Hunters).
Thanks to Eileen for bringing the Chatty Cache event back to the Carrickdale again this year. It was a fabulous evening with great chat & craic.
Last of all, thank you to all that attended for helping make this such a successful and enjoyable event. I wish you all the best for 2017, and I look forward to seeing you at the event in 2018. It's getting harder to find suitable locations, so who know's where we will be in 2018!
