The White Trail at Plainsboro Preserve Traditional Geocache

This cache has been archived.

OReviewer: As there's been no cache to find for a long time or has had no owner response for at least 30 days, I'm archiving it to keep it from showing up in search lists, and to prevent it from blocking other cache placements.

Please note that if geocaches are archived by a reviewer or Geocaching HQ for lack of maintenance, they are not eligible for unarchival.

Geocache Description:

Welcome to the Plainsboro Preserve geotrail! Our original eight-cache "Ranger Rick" geotrail was retired on Saturday, March 25, 2017 and we thank all of our geocaching friends for sharing in that adventure. All of the caches in our current ten-cache geotrail have been hidden in different locations from the previous geotrail in order to keep things interesting for returning geocachers.

Please see The Golden Cache cache entry for full information before starting your quest!

The White Trail at Plainsboro Preserve

Running along the southern and southwestern coasts of Lake McCormack, the White Trail — represented by the white line on the trail map below — is home to many birds and small animals. Keep an eye open for the Purple Martin house-gourds lining the trail; these colorful birds feed on all kinds of insects and can often be seen making lightning-quick changes in direction and altitude as they hunt their prey. Between the trail and the lake you can also find evidence of our local beaver population; look for the characteristic chewing marks near the tree bases, tapering to a point on the many fallen trees.

The White Trail is the second-longest trail in Plainsboro Preserve (.7 mile/1.1 kilometers) and due to its wide, clear pathway and nearly nonexistent level changes it's exceptionally easy for everyone to discover. Unique amongst the trails at Plainsboro Preserve, the White Trail is also accessible to most strollers and wheelchairs. The trail also provides access to nearly all of the other trails at Plainsboro Preserve. Take a break at the lakefront bench and enjoy the spectacular view along the southern edge of Lake McCormack, or let the children look for (but don't touch!) tadpoles and fish at the Devil's Brook inlet.

Don't forget to pick up a trail map inside the Nature Center before you start your adventure!

At launch, each of the ten caches contain a limited number of themed trinkets to commemorate the new geotrail. Be one of the few to collect them all!
