Os batréus são muros de suporte de terrenos, de origem grega com o objetivo de aumentar a área agrícola disponível em terrenos acidentados e evitar os deslizamentos de terras.
O batreu em questão, construído predominantemente em xisto no final do seculo XIX por Cândido Gonçalves Pereira, encontra-se junto à ribeira da Erada e à escola de 2º e 3º ciclos.
Apresenta 2 particularidades sendo uma delas, única na região. A primeira trata-se de uma escadaria em lajes de xisto proeminentes a meio do muro dando acesso ao piso superior, a segunda característica, rara nestas construções, trata-se de uma gruta/abrigo inserida ao lado da escadaria tendo como objetivo abrigar os pastores ou agricultores em períodos de maior precipitação.

The “Batréus” are land retaining walls, of Greek origin, in order to increase agricultural area available in rough terrains and avoid landslides.
The “Batréu” in question, built predominantly in schist at the end of the nineteenth century by Cândido Gonçalves Pereira, is next to the river of Erada and School 2nd and 3rd cycles (11 to 16 yo). It features two particularities, one of them, unique in the region.
The first of them is a staircase in prominent schist slabs in the middle of the wall giving access to the upper floor, the second feature, rare in these buildings, it is a cave next to the staircase with the aim to house the shepherds or farmers periods of higher rainfall.

Para chegar a esta cache será necessário percorrer um trilho com cerca de 430 metros. Na primeira parte do percurso existe um pequeno curso de água (levada) pelo que requer alguma atenção, a segunda parte é um caminho florestal. No início do percurso poderão encontrar o Sr. Alfredo, atual proprietário do local da cache, é um senhor já com alguma idade, bastante simpático e culto.
A cache propriamente tida é uma caixa de tamanho médio e tem originalmente um log, 2 objetos para troca (peça de xadrez e bola de bingo), um lápis, uma afiadeira e um Travel Bug (TB7MR80).

To get to this cache you'll need to go for a rail with about 430 meters. In the first part of the route there is a small watercourse (levada) which requires some attention, the second part is a forest path. At the beginning of the journey you may find Mr. Alfredo, current owner of the local where the cache is. He is a man already with some age, very friendly and wise.
The cache is a medium-sized box and has originally a log, 2 objects to exchange (chess piece and bingo ball), a pencil, a pencil sharpener and Travel Bug (TB7MR80).
