Although I'd rather have placed a Traditional cache here, there are already a couple of caches nearby that are too close. So that cache seekers have to actually visit the church and not simply log a cache without a glance at this most unusual structure, I have made this a multicache. But I have kept the calculation very simple, and the distance to the physical cache is as short as I could manage. So I'd advise parking close to the cache coordinates (note that this road is one-way), getting the information, and then taking a very short stroll to the cache site. If you are unable to walk a couple of hundred yards on hard surfaces, there is parking close by the cache. The cache site is quite open and obvious to muggles, but the placement has been chosen so that even with people a few feet away it should be possible to retrieve the cache discreetly.
From http://derbyshirechurches.org/:
This is the third, possibly the fourth, church on this site that dates back at least to the 15th century.
The present building replaced a “temporary” wooden church erected in 1923 and demolished in 1983. Prior to that a stone church was built in 1883, and prior to that a small chapel existed on the site in 1623. Before that is believed a chapel existed as far back as the 15th century.
The unusual design was chosen to withstand strong winds which buffet this this ridge and to cope with mining subsidence that the area suffers. It was consecrated in 1886. It is a small building, with low maintenance costs, built from fibreglass and is strong enough to withstand the harshest climate.
The interior is capable of multi-purpose use. Indeed as there is only a small primary school in the parish and no other public building, it is used by groups for meetings, as well as worship.
At the time the cache was placed, some work was under way inside the church and it was not possible to enter the building.
To find the cache
Study the gravestone of JMW, and find the numbers corresponding to ABCD and E, to give the location of the cache.
To do this, use the dates on the gravestone and the 9-word Biblical quote ending in "AWAY".
