Welcome to the first Caledonian CacheFest. We are set in the wonderful Scottish Borders town of Peebles. Peebles is a royal burgh in Tweeddale. Peebles lies at the confluence of the River Tweed and Eddleston Water (locally called "the Cuddy"). The Tweed flows west to east, and the Eddleston flows from the north, turning to flow south-west 300 yards before the confluence. The eastern side was defended in historic times by a town wall, which ran in an east facing arc, through which the road to Glentress passed at the East Gate. The road passing through this gate, the Eastgate, is one of four gates in Peebles, the others being Northgate, Bridgegate (where the Eddleston Water was crossed to the north of town), and Ludgate (the western gate of the town), now called Young Street. At the junction of Eastgate and Northgate roads, where the Eastgate becomes High Street, is an ancient market cross
A welcome BBQ to kick start the weekend. We have kindly been allowed a quiet part to relax and enjoy an evening of chat. Caley will bring along the main course, we just ask that you bring along a side dish to share among your fellow geocachers. Don't worry if your not staying on site, just pop along in and join us. Everyone is invited. The site has it's own bar but again feel free to bring your own drink. Toilet facilities are available and the park is dog friendly.
The weekend also is the host of other quality events where you can meet other friendly geocachers, or you can tour the area, where you'll find an abundance of geocaches of all shapes and sizes!
Be sure to include the number of people in your party in your "Will Attend" log!
Please note : If you don't hold a Rosetta Booking, unfortunately you are unable to bring a vehicle on site.
