Geocache Description:

Back in the days before Namadgi, there were farms down from here! Some of the farms remain, but Namadgi has put a stop to any new farms south of here. Back in those days, farmers had issues with dingos. Dingos would steal their chickens, lambs, and even harass their cattle! To solve this problem, a dingo fence was built!

I have no idea how long this fence was. I managed to follow it for over 2km, but I do know that it continued from here to Bushfold flats, and even to Orroral Valley!

My mission today was to plot this portion of the fence. It starts at Gibraltar creek between the Gibraltar falls and Woods reserve. From there it heads straight up the hill, almost to Noikmeisters “Binary Peak” cache, but then veers off to the left, down to the saddle. That is as far as I could track it before it disappeared for now. It was hard enough following it this far. Often it would disappear beneath the ground, only to reappear 30-40m later!

This fence would have taken considerable effort to build! Not only was it around 1.8m high, it was complimented with a mini wall of rocks at its base! This was particularly useful, as often, when the fence disappeared, the rocks were still visible!

At this point the fence seems to stop for now. There is a large coil of fence, and I could follow it no further. (And besides, I was out of time).

To see where the Dingo fence goes, see the attached pic - Dingo fence is green, walking tracks are magenta.
