Please respect the property, sophistication and quiet of this beautiful spot and the residents nearby.

At this location you will find the elegance of circa-1889 Queen Anne-style architecture. The authentic Victorian-style buildings in Port Townsend have put the Port Townsend Historic District on the U.S. National Historic Landmark District register. The Uptown area, away from the more bawdy downtown, saw the construction of many large, beautiful homes. In 1889 Frank Hastings, a successful business man, began construction on a new home the same year Washington became the 42nd state in the union to much fanfare. Port Townsend aspired to be the Great City of that new state and the federal government invested heavily, building the courthouse (Romanesque-style architecture) you see across the street and a new customs building - walking distance from the cache. Here’s some local lore about the courthouse bell that we like to assume is true. Legend says that the bell was pulled across the plains and the clock mechanism was shipped around the Horn. The bell was reportedly drawn into position by a white horse. How fitting! EnjoyPT.

Have fun caching and enjoy the amazing architecture at this cache.
