Geocache Description:

This Cache is entitled "The Pilot" in reference to the Pilot episode of Lost. This cache was placed on 8-15-16 to celebrate Lost. This is the first of what I hope will be our series of Lost inspired Caches. On 5/16/23, I added a bonus cache in memory of canine OceanicCrew member Lickrish. No smiley for the extra find, but it has its own logbook and prizes.

This should be a pretty easy find. You are looking for part of the Oceanic airplane. (Which is really a coffee can painted like Oceanic 815.) Cache is located inside a large ziplock. Inside Oceanic container you will find the log book and Oceanic Crew quote cards. You will also find a 2nd container which holds prizes. You are welcome to take and exchange a prize as well as take one or two of the quote cards. To close the Oceanic (coffee can) please push the lid down until you hear a click and then turn.

On 5/16/23 I placed a special (unofficial) bonus cache for The Pilot cache near-by. You don't need much help finding it once you have reached the Pilot. Once you understand what this cache represents, you should be able to see the cache hidden in plain sight. You won't get an extra smiley for finding it, but it does have its own logbook and prizes. Please follow the parking instructions for the Pilot and walk to this cache.

This bonus cache is in honor of the first Canine member of the Oceanic Crew- Lickrish.

Lickrish was a rescue dog who entered our lives May 5, 2000, when we adopted her from a local humane society. We were so happy to bring her into our home that we were half-way through the adoption process when we realized we'd never actually seen her. Originally, we were told she was a Cocker Spaniel/Brittany mix, but further research suggested she was a Field Spaniel.

Lickrish was a beautiful and highly intelligent dog. She could "speak" and had a large "vocabulary". She loved to travel and go hiking in Colorado. She enjoyed geocaching with us.

Lickrish was born January 1, 2000. She was our special Millennium dog. Lickrish passed away in 2015 in her 16th year of life.

It has been my intention to honor her with a cache for several years and this year it all finally came together. I am placing it this May to mark 23 years since we got her.

This bonus cache is in honor of Lickrish and rescue dogs everywhere. Consider adopting a dog or cat from your local shelter. They are amazing, loving pets, and will be forever grateful.

Owner has allowed cache to be placed here. Please be respectful. The area may look park like but it is private property, so please treat it as such. The No Trespassing signs do not pertain to Geocachers. They were placed here to stop people from walking through the property to the businesses, walking their dogs, littering, or trying to camp here. You are welcome to enter the property for the purpose of geocaching. Owner asks that you enter on left drive and keep vehicle to the paved area. Cache is not located on the motel side of the lot.  Please be mindful when backing out that while you have a pretty clear view, the highway does get busy at certain hours.

This is Kansas and we have snakes and stickers, so please watch your step.
