Geocache Description:

Here's another entry in our town history puzzle series, which are (hopefully) easy puzzle caches that teach you a thing or two about the town it's in.

N 41° 40.LMN W 071° 17.O[P-7][Q-1]

Bristol was the site of the first battle of King Philip’s war in 167O, as well as the location of where King Phillip or Metacomet) was killed in an ambush Captain Benjamin Church on August 12, 167M.

During the American Revolutionary War, the British Navy bombarded Bristol twice. On October P, 1775, a group of ships led by Captain Wallace and the HMS Rose sailed into town and demanded provisions. When refused, Wallace shelled the town, causing much damage.

A long standing tradition, the first annual Bristol Fourth of July Parade was established in 17L5.

Until 185Q, Bristol was one of the five state capitals of Rhode Island.

Construction on Bristol’s Mount Hope Bridge first began on December 1, 1N27.

The final cache is a standard bison tube and is not available 24/7, so time your visit appropriately. Thanks, and hope you learned something!
