About Trefforest Estate Station
Treforest Estate railway station is a small railway station near Treforest, built to serve the workers and visitors of Treforest Industrial Estate. It is located on the Merthyr Line, 8.7 miles (14 km) north of Cardiff Central. The station is built around a central island platform, which is accessible from a subway. It was opened by the Great Western Railway in 1942. In the spring of 2016 the island platform was given a facelift and new shelters were installed to add to the already installed live train information screens and a painted footway on the road approaching the station has helped to improve pedestrian safety ahead of the upcoming South Wales Metro project.
Note that trains depart 30 minutes apart in the same direction and trains in opposite directions arrive at roughly the same time so if you arrive by train, you've got up to 30 minutes which should be enough time to solve and find this cache. The station is not locked at night to my knowledge, it certainly isn't locked before 11pm.
How to find the Logbook
To discover the location of the cache which is a short walk away. Following the removal of the 2007 plaque I have had to hastily change the calculations as follows. You need to note the date on which the recent cement repairs to the walls outside the station gates were carried out. (The same date is repeated numerous times).
Assume the date is J/K/LM. The cache is located at N51 34.ABC W3 17.DEF where:
A = K-M
B = J
C = K
D = J-L
E = J+L
F = B+E
Please note that in winter there may be slippery conditions underfoot. Please take care.
