Geocache Description:

Here you will find yourself at the very North-eastern tip of Blundell’s property - now called Blundell’s Flat. Blundell’s Flat is where John Blundell owned his homestead. John Blundell (born March 1843) was a landholder here from the 1860’s. He married Sarah Ann McKenzie in 1862 at St John’s Cathedral in Canberra.

The only way to get here back in those days was with a punt that operated at Uriarra, at the junction of the Molonglo and Murrumbidgee rivers from around 1858. There was no bridge over the Murrumbidgee until the Tharwa Bridge was opened in 1894. In 1897 the Blundell’s even tried extracting gold at Mount Blundell, although no gold was ever produced.

Please note: this is a very small cache - please BYO pen.
