Geocache Description:

Part of a series taking you to some of our favouite places to spend time in  Toronto.

Wychwood Library is located at 1431 Bathurst St and sits on land that was once owned by Col. Joseph Wells (1773-1853), who was a hero of the Napoleonic Wars.  Wychwood is one of three libraries constructed by noted architect Eden Smith in the early 1910s.  At the moment, Wychwood has the unique feature of a rotunda, but the branch is currently scheduled for renovations in 2017.  This renovation will expand the library but the rotunda will be removed. (See it while you can!)

The movie "Scott Pilgim VS the World" was partially filmed at the library in 2009.  Three scenes were filmed over the Easter weekend and we've been told that one of the actresses (most likely Mary Elizabeth Winstead, who played the character Ramona Flowers) came to the library during open hours to practise rolling into the building on roller skates.  Since the movie came out, every year divoted fans visit Wychwood to take pictures of the areas featured in the film.

In the spring and summer of 2005, local Toronto artist John Clapp constructed a miniature village on the grass beside the front door.  The village featured items such as a Plains Cree teepee, a Viking cabin, a highland cottage, tiny fireplaces, pebble pathways and much more.  Each model was made from found objects (bark, mud, moss, shells, pine needles) and it was a huge hit with staff and local residents.

Cache is not at the posted coordinates.  To find the container you must visit several locations close by and do some math.  The container is located inside the library, so time your visit carefully.

Waypoint 1 - There are TEN identical rectangular windows at this location.  Each window is divided into smaller rectangular sections.  How many sections are there in a single window?  Subtract 8 from this number = A

Waypoint 2 - There is a cluster of bike racks at this location.  How many racks are there?  Add two = B

How many steps are there in the first set of stairs inside the library?  = C

Waypoint 3 - How many sewer grates are at this location?  = D

Cache can be found at R BA.C7D3  - You do not need to solve for R, but it is important.
