Geocache Description:

This cache was originally placed as part of the Visit Rainier Centennial GeoTour - 100 geocaches to celebrate 100 years of the National Park Service. The GeoTour has ended, but you can still enjoy visiting many of these special places. This bookmark lists all the GeoTour caches.

Discover the history and culture of the Upper Cowlitz Valley from Kosmos to White Pass at the White Pass Country Historical Museum in Packwood.

Located in the former Packwood Elementary School, the museum shares the colorful history through displays and artifacts as well as educational programs and interpretive discussions.

But while the museum offers a lot of visual history, there's more to the museum than just what's inside. The White Pass Country Historical Society, which operates the museum, offers walking tours of Packwood by request, and sponsors annual events such as the Packwood Mountain Festival and Fun Run.

Hours: The museum is generally open 12:00 to 5:00 p.m. Thursday, Friday, and Saturday from Memorial Day to Labor Day weekends, and 12:00 to 4:00 p.m. on Saturday the remainder of the year.

2016 was the 100th anniversary of the National Park Service, and to celebrate, Visit Rainier and WSGA hosted the Visit Rainier Centennial GeoTour - 100 caches placed in and around Mount Rainier National Park. The geocaches highlighted the rich history, scenic wonders, quaint communities, and hidden gems of the Rainier region. Participants received geocoin and pathtag prizes for finding all the caches.
