La première traversée du Rhône entre Saint-Jean et La Jonction est réalisée par des privés sous la forme d'une passerelle piétonne en 1891. Elle est donnée à l'État de Genève en 1921 et existe jusqu'en 1968 lorsque la construction d'un pont routier est lancée. Ce pont fait alors partie du plan général de circulation qui vise à poursuivre la semi-autoroute des Jeunes à travers La Jonction via le pont de Saint-Georges et la rue des Deux-Ponts jusqu'à la gare Cornavin. Lors des travaux de construction du pont, les fouilles permettent de mettre au jour les ruines du prieuré de Saint-Jean, situé à l'entrée du pont sur la rive droite, et dont l'emplacement exact était alors inconnu à la suite de sa destruction en 1535.

The first crossing of the Rhône between Saint Jean and The Junction was realized by private one under the form of a pedestrian footbridge in 1891. It was given to the State of Geneva in 1921 and it existed until 1968 when the construction of a road bridge is been launched. This bridge is then a part of the general plan of traffic which aims at pursuing the "semi-autoroute des Jeunes" through La Junction via the bridge of Saint-Georges and the street des Deux-Pont up to the station Cornavin. During the building work of the bridge, the excavations allow to bring to light the ruins of Saint Jean's priory, situated in the entry of the bridge on the right bank. The exact location was unknown following its destruction in 1535..

[FR]Aménagements de baignade et de détente sur les rives du Rhône
En été les rives du Rhône sont envahie grâce à l'installation de trois plateformes en bois et d'un grand muret qui améliore la sécurité des baigneurs. Quant aux amateurs de soleil, ils peuvent se prélasser confortablement sur les blocs posés sur le sentier des Saules. Des structures légères ont été choisies pour favoriser leur intégration harmonieuse au site.
[EN]Arrangements of bathing and relaxation on the banks of the Rhône
In summer the banks of the Rhône are invaded thanks to the installation of three wooden platforms and a big low wall which improves the safety of the swimmers. As for the amateurs of sun, they can bask comfortably on blocks put on the sentier des Saules. Light structures were chosen to favor their harmonious integration in the site.

[FR]A noter que la baignade dans le Rhône n'est autorisée qu'en aval du pont Sous-Terre et n'est pas surveillée. Les sauts et plongeons depuis le pont Sous-Terre sont interdits.
[EN]To note that the bathing in the Rhône is authorized only downstream to the bridge Sous-Terre and is not watched. The jumps and the dives since the bridge Sous-Terre are forbidden.
