Geocache Description:

The fourth in the much anticipated series of annual events frolicking about on Coombe Hill at midnight!

The midnight meet is an event that local geocachers young and old look forward to! Visitors over the previous three years have come from as far away as Essex and Devon to gaze in wonder at the distant lights of Aylesbury alongside a lot of other lunatics with torches. And enough people generally bring enough cake and other nibbles such that the base of the monument is less a place to sit and shelter from the wind and more a WI cake stand!

So after popular demand I am organising this event again. Timed from 11.45pm on Friday 26th August to 12.15am on Saturday 27th August it's an opportunity to meet other cachers, chat, share cake and sausage rolls, and swap trackables. Above all it's an opportunity, with others, to mark the end of the summer season in style.

Within the nearby vicinity of the event there's the award-winning Another Knight Cache, although the cache owner politely requests that this is completed in groups of no more than six people at a time due to the proximity of the route to the landowner's property. There's also the oldest cache in England, which can be done at night if you watch your footing, a nice easy multi based on information that can be found at the monument and the popular Chiltern Scarp earthcache, which can easily be completed at night.

There's uneven terrain on route to the monument, so stout footwear and a torch for every person are essential. It's also outdoors and there's nowhere to shelter if it rains so keep an eye on the forecast and dress appropriately. Remember that there's no such thing as bad weather, just inappropriate clothing. Also keep in mind that the temperature drops during the night so a blanket to sit under would be a good idea, particularly for smaller cachers.

Above all bring lots of cake and nibbles!
