Biserica fortificata Copsa Mica - Kiskapus Traditional Geocache

[EN] Copsa Mica (German: Kleinkopisch; Hungarian: Kiskapus) is a town in Sibiu County, Transylvania, 12 km southwest of Medias.
The Romanesque church, built in the 13th century is included in the present day Lutheran Church. Only the western facade with its small tower and its wall-walk are from the old church. A series of Romanesque decorations are visible on the western facade. They consist of narrow, thin capitaliess and baseless pilasters. A modest enclosing wall surrounds the church. Worth highlighting in the interior are the Baroque altar, the organ with its classicistic decoration and the plain galleries.

[RO] Copşa Mică (Kiskapus, Klein-Kopisch) este un oraş aşezat pe Târnava Mare, atestat documentar din 1263 (Kapws). Din păcate perioada comunistă a adus o faimă negativă oraşului prin poluarea industrială.
Biserica originală (romanică) a fost ridicată în secolul al 13-lea şi este cuprinsă în actuala biserica evanghelică maghiară. Credincioşii, sub influenţa curentului reformat, au devenit luterani, împreună cu biserica. Din vechiul lăcaş de cult se mai păstrează faţada de vest, cu un mic turn clopotniţă, prevăzut cu un drum de strajă. Pe faţada vestică se mai disting elemente decorative specifice stilului romanic, numite lesene, care sunt formate din pilaştri înguşti şi subţiri, fără capitel şi bază. Biserica este înconjurată de o incintă de dimensiuni modeste. În interiorul lăcaşului se remarcă în primul rând altarul baroc şi orga cu decoraţiuni clasiciste.

[DE] Kleinkopisch (Copsa Mica, Kiskapus) ist eine Kleinstadt im Kreis Sibiu in Siebenbürgen. Die Kleinstadt liegt an der Mündung des Flusses Visa (Weißbach) in die Târnava Mare (Große Kokel) zwölf Kilometer von Medias (Mediasch) entfernt. Der Ort wurde 1263 unter der Bezeichnung Kapws erstmals urkundlich erwähnt. Der Name lässt auf eine Zollstation schließen, denn in der ungarischen Form bedeutet er etwa „Kleines Tor“. Auf dem Gelände der heutigen evangelischen Kirche wurde im 15. Jahrhundert ein Wachtturm errichtet.

[HU] Kiskapus (Copsa Mica, Klein-Kopisch) Megyeshez közel, a Nagy-Küküllő partján fekszik. Eső emlitése 1263-ból Kapws néven.
Az eredeti, román stilusú templom, a 13.században épült. A magyar hívek a reformációkor (1550) lutheránusok lesznek, és a templom is az övék marad. A templom részben átépült, de a nyugati homlokzat és egy gyilokjáróval ellátott  torony megmaradt az eredeti templomból. Az oltár 1808-ban került a templomba, szájhagyomány szerint II. József császár adományaként. Az orgona a nagyenyedi scholából volt átvéve 1847-ben. A templom két harangja közül a kisebb 1548-ban készült. Az eredeti nagy harang, amely jelenleg egy nagyváradi harangöntő mester tulajdonában van, szájhagyomány szerint a kisharangnál is régebbi. Mivel ez utóbbi meghasadt, 1992-ben egy új harang került a helyébe. A templomot körülvevő védőfal, díszes kapujával együtt 1885-ben épült.
