Geocache Description:

This cache takes you to the northwest borders of Strathcona County on the Strathcona Riverside Nature Trail.  Discover the amazing trails that run along the river valley as part of the Capital Region River Valley Park Implementation Plan.

This cache leads you to wildlife holes! For example Woodpeckers use their strong beaks to chip holes into dead or dying trees to feed on the bugs that are breaking down the already decaying wood. Other wildlife, such as voles, weasels and badgers, can make holes in the ground. Exposed soil horizons like the one you see here clearly demonstrates the various layers in the ground as well as various wildlife using the area.
