Geocache Description:

Cache is NOT at the posted coordinates.  Don't go there unless you'd like to swim or take a boat ride.

This cache is part of a series called "Flag Day in Flag City."  Findlay, Ohio, is officially designated "Flag City, U.S.A." and is the Flag Capital of the United States.  As such, it seemed only fitting that there be a flag GeoArt in the area to commemorate this fact.

All cache GZs have accessible parking at the reservoir, in a park, or in a cemetery.  Please only go for the cemetery finals during daylight hours, and respect all posted hours at any parks.

The idea of standardized state flags as a nationwide trend began in the 1890s. With the upcoming World's Columbian Exposition in Chicago in 1893, states desired to have distinct symbols to represent them at the event. Most state flags were designed between 1893 and the start of World War I, although the oldest current state flag is that of Hawaii (adopted in 1845, 114 years before its admission as the 50th state in 1959). The most recent flag was updated in 2011 (Utah).
