Looking west from Vang Vieng over the river and into the rice fields you will see a small mountain placed right in the middle of all the rice fields, this is home of The Flag Pole Geocache.
This is not for the flip flop goers looking to do some light hiking. This is a strenuous hike up a limestone mountain. There are a few sketchy ladders at the start, but for the most part it is decent climbing up and over boulders and using strong vines to get up to the top. You will want to make sure to wear shoes for the climb and make sure to bring some water with you it gets hot out here. Once you have made it up you will be rewarded with amazing views of the surrounding mountains. Many travelers come up this mountain daily so you should be able to make the hike up and to think once you make it, now you have a cache as your reward. *No equipment needed for the climb, but you will need to BYOP to sign the log*
