Home of the Brave (2006)
The day after they get the word they'll go home in two weeks, a group of soldiers from Spokane are ambushed in an Iraqi city on a humanitarian mission. Back stateside we follow four of them:
Samuel L. Jackson portrays a medical Captain, a surgeon who is tormented by lost lives he could not save in war and returns home not as the doctor he once was. In the role of a military cargo driver, Jessica Biel plays a teacher and single Mom who returns home to face the emotional and physical readjustments her wounds carry. Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson is cast in a tragic role as an army specialist haunted by the combat killing of an Iraqi woman who is unable to cope with his anger once he returns home to his friends. Brian Presley, a specialist whose childhood best friend dies in his arms, returns home to his sweetheart but is compelled to go back to war and support his comrades in their fight.
Filming began in the desert city of Ouarzazatte in the Kingdom of Morocco on March 5, 2006, and took place within the city's outskirts and inner rural communities. For key military scenes, the Moroccan Government supported the filmmakers by supplying authentic personnel carriers for several action sequences. After filming completed in Morocco, the movie next traveled thousands of miles from the sun-drenched desert of Ouarzazatte to the cooler and greener climate of Spokane, Washington, selected as the "coming home" city for the film's cast who are seen returning from war in 'Iraq.'
